Job Opportunity - Director of Strategy, Maternity Cover

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead thinkBeyond Talent’s new Strategy arm, driving forward the new business offering through strategic leadership, proactive business development, communications and service delivery. This is a chance to shape the trajectory of our agency’s work in this space and to work with high-profile personalities in both the UK and US, enabling them to make a positive and sustainable difference to society while adding direction and purpose to their personal brand. Working with colleagues based in London and New York, you would be joining a dedicated and entrepreneurial team of experts across talent management, sport for social change, strategy, sponsorship and events, activation and communications. The role has three elements:

  1. Leadership – responsibility for overall strategic direction, commercial plan and business development for thinkBeyond Talent’s new Strategy offering

  2. Strategy – creation of social change strategies for talent, their agents and advisors

  3. Delivery – execution and delivery of these social change strategies and approaches for talent

 

Roles & Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Shape the direction of the thinkBeyond Talent Strategy commercial offering in the UK and US; identifying target markets and developing products and messaging, working closely with the MD, CEO and Director of Strategy at sister agency thinkBeyond
  • Lead on the positioning, thought-leadership and communication of the agency’s Strategy services and act as face of the brand - networking, panels, talks, blogs & article creation
  • Lead on sales and business development to source talent as Strategy clients, including identifying, developing and securing relationships with individual talent, their agents and advisors as well as athlete educators within clubs, leagues and player associations
  • Identify future thinkBeyond Talent Strategy growth opportunities and work streams
  • Manage the thinkBeyond Talent Strategy budget, forecasting and monthly income reports
  • Represent the department within the wider group, and contribute to senior leadership meetings

Strategy

  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with thinkBeyond Talent Strategy clients as their main contact
  • Lead on ideation and creation of strategic projects for thinkBeyond Talent Strategy clients, working with thinkBeyond’s MD and Director of Strategy to brainstorm and design bespoke cause related narratives and strategies

Delivery

  • Lead and project manage delivery of designed strategies for clients, acting as their main contact within the business and working with thinkBeyond’s MD, Director of Strategy, Senior Communications and Campaigns Manager and Head of Operations as required
  • Identify and manage stakeholders and partners, implement bespoke communications and campaign strategies, oversee creation and delivery of events, monitor and evaluate activity

 

Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities

Essential:

  • Strong experience of developing a new commercial offering and positioning it into the market
  • Excellent track record of business development and sales
  • An understanding of sponsorship and communications
  • Excellent client management, project management and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience within the sport for social change and/or athlete care/education sectors
  • Experience of interacting with and working with talent
  • An outgoing, hard-working and self-motivated team-player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently on projects running concurrently
  • Impeccable attention to detail in project management and communication
  • Calm and focused under pressure with the ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve, and adaptable to different roles as required
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Experience of talent management or athlete management industry
  • Familiarity with both UK and US sport industries and player/athlete trends
  • Ability to design and facilitate cause focused workshop sessions with talent
